I’ve taken the plunge and have begun to sell some of my baked goods! I started a page dedicated to posting photos and short descriptions of the items I’ve prepared. I hope you’ll check them out in addition to checking out delicious recipes I post here on the blog.
This cake was my first “official” cake order. It’s a Vanilla Rum layer cake with vanilla buttercream filling and icing. Since it was not for any special occasion in particular, I went with simple decor and stuck to buttercream roses and a clean and neat shell border. (I’ll admit, I am a fan of simple cake decorations.)
The cake below was lemon flavored with strawberry preserves as the filling and lemon flavored buttercream icing. The flowers are hand-made fondant pansies (which I learned in the Wilton Course 2), and love how they cascaded down the cake. The sides are done in a basket-weave style and boy was this cake was moist and yummy!
Below are Tiramisu and Lemon-Raspberry cupcakes. The tiramisu cupcakes have a vanilla base, are then infused with brewed coffee, filled with Kahlua-mascarpone filling, and topped with cream cheese icing. The Kahlua is what really ties these cupcakes together. Oh, and you see those heart toppers? I made those! They’re simply piped chocolate that set up and carefully placed in the icing alongside a chocolate covered coffee bean. Yum!
PS. A photo tutorial for making the piped chocolate hearts is forthcoming. They are so simple, and give an added WOW to your homemade treats.
The Lemon-Raspberry cupcakes were lemon cupcake with raspberry preserve filling and raspberry cream cheese icing. They were topped with bright pink and yellow fondant blossoms. These were bright, fresh tasting, and provided guests at the party with two completely different options for dessert.
All were displayed on a beautiful tiered acrylic cupcake stand.
Here’s to hoping what I’ve always enjoyed doing…BAKING…will turn into something at some point. For now, I’m just going to enjoy the process and excitement of having others enjoy my sweet treats. I will continue to post recipes along with photos of the baked goods customers order.
