This year for Easter, it was obvious I was determined to work
m&m's into any and every dessert I was bringing to our family Easter lunch. After spotting the new white chocolate variety m&m's, I decided to do my one of favorite types of dessert—Candied Popcorn…with the highly addictive candy coated goodness I purchased, of course!
I found a recipe online that looked like it could be a real winner (and probably my dentists worst nightmare) and decided to give it a go. It included a combination of popcorn (100 calorie packs, kind of ironic right? Keep reading and you'll see why!), a home-made caramel candy coating, salted peanuts, m&m's, a white chocolate drizzle, and Easter-themed confetti to tie it all together.
Honestly, it was way more time consuming than I had originally anticipated, but the end results was crunchy, caramel-y, salty, and very FESTIVE!
I served it up in small paper Easter bunny cups (thank you $1 section at Target) and let the guests go to town.
Since I also made
this cake for the birthday guests of honor, I made sure to pack plastic baggies and ribbon to send to-go popcorn goody bags for a late night treat. I mean, diets always start on Monday's, right?
Creating popcorn treats are one of my trusty go-to ways to satisfy my sweet tooth. So many variations and mix-ins give each batch a unique twist.
This recipe is for special occasions, however, because it does take a bit of time, but its cruncy and delicious!
However, if you're short on time (read: raiding kitchen for sugar), Reese's Pieces Popcorn Recipe is quick and extremely tasty as well. MAKE YOR CHOICE! Either way, you will love your sweet popcorn concoction.

With all these Kit-Kat cakes floating around Pinterest, I patiently awaited the perfect opportunity to try one out for myself.
What constitutes a “perfect” opportunity?
- A special occasion
- A ready and willing group of chocolate enthusiasts
- A BOGO sale on Kit-Kat bars (Hey, they can be expensive…especially as many that are needed for this cake)
So, the stars aligned, and I went for it.

As you know, I’m a huge fan of chocolate. Although I highly prefer semi-sweet or dark, I’ll take it any way I can get it.
Here’s the dilemma. The Fiance is not as much of a “fan of all-things-chocolate” as I am. I know, that’s a WHOPPER (no pun intended) of a problem! Every time I think we deserve a treat and am trying to figure out something delicious to bake up, it happens.
Me: Any suggestions on what I should make for dessert? (Said while waving a brand new bag of Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate chips-SIGH)
Fiance: Whatever you want. (Secretly wanting these)
Me: I want something chocolate chips in it, don’t you?!?!
Fiance: I don’t feel like having chocolate. But…if that’s what you want, it’s okay. You can enjoy. (His attempt at making me feel some semblance of guilt)
Me: I’ll think of something, I know you like cinnamon-y, spice type flavors. I’ll do some research.
After considering sprinkling cinnamon on a huge pile of chocolate chips, I decided to find a happy medium.
I know people, what is this whole compromising nonsense?

Nothing new here. The Fiance still adores his trusty ol’ Cap’n Crunch Peanut Butter Cereal. And I have a feeling Publix Supermarket is fully aware of his obsession, considering they continue to put this item as one of their buy one get one (BOGO) items about once a month!
If you wanna know my honest opinion, I think the anticipation of walking down the cereal aisle and having that faint glimmer of hope that his beloved cereal is finally on sale is the sole reason he’ll even consider going grocery shopping with me.

I’ve taken the plunge and have begun to sell some of my baked goods! I started a page dedicated to posting photos and short descriptions of the items I’ve prepared. I hope you’ll check them out in addition to checking out delicious recipes I post here on the blog.
This cake was my first “official” cake order. It’s a Vanilla Rum layer cake with vanilla buttercream filling and icing. Since it was not for any special occasion in particular, I went with simple decor and stuck to buttercream roses and a clean and neat shell border. (I’ll admit, I am a fan of simple cake decorations.)

Cake truffles, aka cake balls, aka cake pops, are the ultimate dessert for special occasions.
Let me explain…
- You can eat one without feeling like you threw your diet completely out the window.
- You can sample several different flavors instead of being limited to one flavor of cake.
- You can decrease your dish load because you can just pop ‘em in your mouth, no plate needed. I HATE DISHES.
- And lastly, you can stuff one in your mouth when no one is looking and not get caught! GULP Continue Reading »

How many store bought snack bars can you honestly claim to be able to RECOGNIZE and PRONOUNCE all of the ingredients on the packaging?
I’ll answer that question for you, not many, not many at all!
That’s what really turned me on to Larabars.
There are only a few ingredients, the ingredients are actual real, whole foods, and the snack bars are extremely tasty!
They carry tons of flavors:
- Apple Pie
- Banana Bread
- Carrot Cake
- Cashew Cookie
- Cherry Pie
- Chocolate Chip Brownie
- Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
- Coconut Cream Pie
- Lemon
- Peanut Butter Cookie
And even more!
These are perfect as pre-run fuel and are also effective sweet-tooth crushers when cravings set in (if that makes any sense at all!).
So, after enjoying the plethora of flavors I swiped scored from my half-marathon race expo, I sadly realized I was all out and went back to my regular store bought granola bars. BOO!

My niece and nephew find humor in being complete opposites.
For example:
What movie do you wanna watch? Movie x or movie y?
Which playground do you want to play at today?
Do you want to play this board game or that board game?
I’m baking cupcakes, which flavor should I make?
No matter what the question, they have completely opposing responses. I truly think it’s because they enjoy torturing us adults, right?
Either way, on this particular occasion, the answer to the last question (cupcake flavor) drove me bonkers! She likes chocolate. He only likes vanilla.
My response to their little game: Chocolate brownie vanilla cupcakes.

Everywhere I’ve been turning (aka “clicking”) lately I’ve seen these rich and decadent desserts that have been extracted from a mug!
A mug?
I know, who makes cakes in a mug? But…it sounds enticing…cake in a vessel with a handle? Genius!

I know I mentioned in my Oat-FREE Oatmeal post about how I’ve found a new love.
(Insert sigh here)
Well, the original recipe may begin to develop some feelings of envy after this one.
This variation of my Oat-FREE Oatmeal is, quite possibly, even better.
Why, you ask? (And even if you didnt)
Did you NOT read the title? It’s chocolate!
Chocolate + Anything = Yum.
